Start with dollars per close
Closers do not think in percentages. They think in what one close puts in their pocket, and how many conversations it takes to get there. If a close takes about ten conversations and a closer wants at least $5 for each one, your product needs to pay around $50 per close.
Then check the other side: after the commission, is the sale still worth it to you? For a digital product with little delivery cost, the answer is usually yes, even at a generous offer.
Worked examples
On Closr you set one total commission offer. Closr keeps 10 percentage points of the sale and the closer earns the rest.
| Price and offer | Closer | Business |
|---|---|---|
| $49 template at 40% | $14.70 | $29.40 |
| $199 course at 40% | $59.70 | $119.40 |
| $997 program at 30% | $199.40 | $697.90 |
The platform keeps 10 percent of the sale price in each example ($4.90, $19.90 and $99.70). Stripe processing fees apply on top.
Notice the $49 template. Even at 40 percent, a close pays under $15, which is a hard sell for anyone doing real outreach. Low priced products either need a very high offer or a buyer who converts in one message.
What should move your offer up or down
- Price. The cheaper the product, the higher the percentage needs to be.
- Sales cycle. Products that need a call or a demo should pay more than ones that sell from a single message.
- Subscriptions. On Closr the closer earns commission on the first payment only, so a monthly product needs a larger first payment share to attract closers.
- Competition. Closers compare your offer with the other products they could run this week.
- Discounts. A closer can offer customers a discount from their run link. It comes out of their commission, so your share stays the same.
Commission mistakes to avoid
- Setting the minimum. The offer must be at least 10 percent, but at exactly 10 percent the closer earns nothing.
- Cutting the offer mid run. Closers who are already selling your product notice, and they stop.
- Paying before a sale clears. Pay only on paid sales after the refund window. On Closr that happens automatically.
